Dear Faculty, BYU Security has seen an increase in lab doors with tape or magnets over the latch, preventing them from properly locking. Please remind your students that all labs must remain secured when not in use in order to comply with federal EPA chemical regulations. Last night 10 labs were found unsecured. We have also seen individuals in the building checking for rooms that are not locked. Sometimes this results in theft of small items. To help maintain a safe environment, hallway doors should be closed after 7:00 p.m., and lab doors should be properly secured at all times. Students and faculty should use their ID cards to access these areas of the building not prop open the doors. If you notice suspicious activity, immediately contact BYU Police at 801-422-0911. Thank you for helping keep our building safe.
